Most if not all woman will have splitting of the “linea alba”, the soft tissue that holds the two sides of the Rectus Abdominus together.  This thins and separates in pregnancy to allow the baby to grow and if left untreated after the birth, can cause lower back issues amongst other symptoms.

Gentle Pilates exercises that have been prescribed by a teacher knowledgeable in this condition, will help strengthen the Rectus muscles and in most cases, If caught earlier enough after birth, can bring the muscles back together.
