			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>A totally new beginners class will be starting on <strong>24th November 2011</strong> at <strong>7.30pm </strong>at St Paul&#8217;s Church, Woking, Surrey.</p>
<p>If you have never done Pilates before then this is the class for you.  It will start at base level where the set up is explained in detail and easy to understand exercises are followed.  It will be a slow pace to enable each participant to fully understand the technique.</p>
<p>I also run mixed ability classes on Mondays at 6.30pm and 7.40pm and Wednesdays at 7.10pm and 8.20pm.</p>

<p>Now&#8217;s the time to throw out the party food, get rid of the chocolates, stop drinking alcohol and fizzy drinks and start thinking about getting yourself in shape and loosing that Christmas weight and more!</p>

<p>If you are serious, ditch the larger clothes otherwise they will always be there to offer an excuse to go back to your original size.  Having those clothes may be a contributing factor to repeated weight gain.</p>

<p>Carbohydrates are used by the body for energy.  If you are trying too loose weight cut out the carbs after 6pm in the evening as most of us will sit down in front of the TV and relax thus not using any energy.  Carbohydrates contain glucose which releases insulin into the body.  So if you have a meal containing potatoes, rice, pasta or bread then the excess glucose that is not utilised, (and believe me if you are stagnant on the sofa it won&#8217;t be), will be stored as fat. </p>
<p>So rule of thumb leave out the carbs after 6pm have them during the day instead.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>OK, Christmas has come and gone but unfortunately the weight, or should I say FAT is still with us.   Did you know that the average Brit consumes a whopping 7,000 calories on Christmas day alone not to mention all the pre-Christmas festivities.  So if we start the Christmas run up in early December and it finishes in early January, that is one WHOLE month of over-indulgence!  Added to the fact that most of us have been inactive over the holiday period will mean our  metabolic rate, (this  controls how many calories our body burns at rest to maintain normal function), has slowed right down. This means that any food not burned off through exercise will be laid down as FAT. </p>
<p>Okay, don&#8217;t panic, there is a solution.  With correct nutrition and exercise you can get your body back to health and return your metabolic rate to good level.  Did you know that eating little and often of the correct foods can elevate your metabolic rate and keep it elevated.  This means you are burning more calories.  Exercise also elevates your metabolic rate and resistance training will tone muscles and that on its own will keep your metabolic rate elevated.  So when you have good muscle tone your body has to burn calories to keep the muscles in shape, so basically you are burning calories just being you!</p>
<p>So if you are ready to get back into shape then why not try a Personal Trainer to offer you the motivation you need to keep going.  Don&#8217;t fall into the trap of joining a gym because you want to loose weight, go for the first month, get bored and then never return again.  Did you know that a lot of gyms make a large percentage of their profits in the first three months of the year from &#8220;Newbees&#8221; who join then leave.  Don&#8217;t give them the satisfaction, spend your money wisely and enlist the help of a Personal Trainer.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>It is important to keep fit and healthy during pregnancy, and if you are a regular exerciser you are probably wondering whether it is safe to continue with your current exercise regime.  Your exercise priority&#8217;s change when you are pregnant and as you progress month by month your exercise needs will also need to change.</p>
<p>You undergo enormous emotional, physical and hormonal changes so any exercise you decide to undertake must take all these changes into account.  Pregnancy is not the time to decide you want to get fit or loose weight, your priority will be to maintain the fitness that you have to benefit yourself and your growing baby.</p>
<p>You need something that prepares you for the extra weight you are going to carry, the physical and emotional changes that you are going to experience and the rigours of labour.  This is where Pilates can help.</p>
<ul>
<li>It ensures your body&#8217;s systems i.e. lymphatic, circulatory, digestive and respiratory are functioning efficiently</li>
<li>It can help make your pregnancy more comfortable with less pain</li>
<li>It teaches you to relax which is invaluable throughout your pregnancy and during the birth itself</li>
<li>It prepares you for labour</li>
<li>By far the most important aspect, it lays foundations to help you get your figure back after the birth</li>
</ul>
<p>Pilates trains the body and mind to move correctly with slow controlled movements.  The exercises are non impact so will not stress the joints and it is very safe for the pregnant mother.  Pilates is perfect for pregnancy as it emphasises correct alignment and posture and this is the time when your posture changes quite dramatically.  For instance, there is increased strain on your neck and back as your breasts grow in size and weight.  Pilates will teach you how to release tension, strengthen your mid back muscles to prevent you from becoming round shouldered and improve your awareness of upper body movement.  It can also help relieve the lower back and joint aches and pains associated pregnancy.</p>
<p>So you see it is important to continue exercising through pregnancy with the knowledge that with each trimester your exercise regime will need to change to take into account the postural alterations.  But you also need to be aware that should you be having any complications with your pregnancy you should always seek medical advice before undertaking any exercise.</p>
