Being pregnant myself has made me realise even more the importance of Pilates through Pregnancy. It has allowed me to remain strong through my abdominal muscles and at a time when posural changes happen quite dramatically has helped keep my pelvis in alignment to avoid lower back pains.
I am a Personal Trainer and Fitness Instructor as well as a Pilates Teacher and have kept fit throughout my pregnancy. I am now in my third trimester and still physically teaching classes including Spinning. Without Pilates I know that I would not be able to continue with the job I love.
Pilates is an excellent way to strenghen postural muscles through increased body awareness. This is so valuable during pregnancy when associated changes in the body can lead to numerous aches and pains. Practicing Pilates throughout pregnancy will not only help to train the muscles that support and protect against such problems but will also develop skills useful during labour and help to prepare for the demands of motherhood. It also lays foundations to help you get your figure back after the birth.
